The Evolution of a Movement can be marked by specific steps.

1. The Grand Vision

A charismatic leader or leaders introduce a new and transcendent idea that promises a solution for struggling players.

Thus we find ourselves. Plans are in motion to confront the system overseas. Pressure is mounting. Smoke is rising from within. An isolated player, naked, shivering, the slogan POSITIVE INTENT written on his body in chicken blood, has come staggering from the field and is taken aside in secrecy for a temporary assignment at Derbyshire.

Do you ever miss the early days, when everything was fresh? The initial phase, of pure instinct.

2. Love-Bombing

Team architects offer a reboot, optimism ahead, camaraderie, success together who all believe in the philosophy.

How did it feel back then? A team united basking in glory. Ink. Forearms. Jawlines. Confident masculinity. Oh sure, The squad insist Bazball doesn’t actually exist, amusingly since it’s not recognized, what did we see?

However, everyone understands the concept. It’s Harry Brook playing a shot so depraved it defies description. It’s the thrill of the leader in his final form, a look that says: pensive Nordic god, rugged appearance, untamed style, truly contemporary you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and find him positioned in the field stripped to the waist and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the opener continuing to have permission addressing the media, appearing as a joyful figure smartly dressed, uttering phrases such as we’re breaking down traditions. Certainly, the atmosphere, for a significant period, was only good energy.

3. Expansion Period

Development stage. Cohesion maintained via memorization of mantras. These principles are often illogical to prove commitment.

Does anyone else feel? The backlash, the outrage, the feeling of letdown post-defeat seems too strong, too much. England batted badly on the field, as they often do in Australia. This is the core issue. Everything is a cult. The style was a trend since the sport itself is insular. In fact, the sport in England is closed, a circle, an elite gathering, a closed world with two hundred years of ceremonial past defining it. It has long been a place where power and access are hoarded. It’s the colonial game of the British, the pioneering brand. And notably, the country is a phenomenon, a system of unknown levels, a place that literally still has a king.

England’s cricketers have been isolated within this world from a young age. In trying to escape from it, to build a better atmosphere, they are just repeating their past, forming a new circle, a limited community, but now with a modern squad and a coach promoting authenticity if you fit the mold.

Focus on the moment. Run towards the danger. Despite efforts, you remain stuck.
