Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
